Chuck Heyn, Vice President

Chuck Heyn

Chuck was born and raised in Wayne County, graduated from Damascus High School in 1964 and received an Associate Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Penn State University in 1966. He was drafted while working for Xerox in July ’66 and served 15 months in Vietnam as an Army Combat Medic. He returned home and spent 8 years reintegrating back into society. The education received during this transition was something that could not be taught. Coming from the depths of war he could no longer understood our way of life. There was something wrong! The over-consumption, the waste, the pollution, and what seemed like a false happiness. As we began to embrace alternative energy in the 70’s, recycling, and beginning to see the true costs of polluting our environment Chuck found something he wanted to put his energy into. So in 1976 he settled down back here, and married Andrea in 1980. In raising two daughters, he came to truly understand the importance of community. Chuck sat on the board of the Damascus Township Planning Commission for 15 years, for 10 as its Chair during the 80’s and 90’s. He is a member of Veterans For Peace, VFW Post 531, American Legion Post 765, and the Equinunk Historical Society. Being a founding member of SEEDS simply put all these things together.

Chuck is serving through 2025.

Jamie Stunkard, Secretary

Jamie Stunkard

Jamie is the owner and chef at Nature's Grace Natural Foods and Cafe on Main Street in Honesdale. He says "Sustainability and how well we can implement this will be defining where we stand and how we survive in the future.  We have to support this on a global level but also on a local level. I suppose we could again become hunter / gatherers but I imagine most of us are unwilling to give up our modern comforts.  Consequently, clean energy in its various forms is an important part of this picture. Zero carbon footprint is a worthy goal which I have worked many years towards. Still hoping to reach there. The Clean Energy Coop is an important means toward that goal.  Hope I can help it along."

Jamie is serving through 2026.

David and his wife Deborah moved to Wayne County in 1988 and raised their three children, Samuel, Imogen and Benita in Cold Spring (along with a flock of Jacob sheep, a colorful variety of chickens and a crazy Springer spaniel.)  Their passion is planting trees, gardening and being good stewards of the land. They have installed enough solar panels on their barn roof to cover their annual electricity needs and want to spread the solar message.  He has worked at Beekman Marketing, a communications and advertising firm in New York City since 1977, the last 20 years as President. The firm specializes in helping cultural, educational and other not-for-profit clients raise their profile, build support among many different constituencies and fulfill their core missions. Allaina was born and raised in the woods outside of Honesdale, PA. She earned her degree from Bryn Mawr College in economics and middle eastern studies.  Allaina returned home to Honesdale and now owns and runs Here & Now Brewing Company.  After purchasing her building in 2013, she spent the next 4 years renovating it, taking time to find the balance between historical accuracy, modern functionality and energy efficiency.  Allaina’s mission is to help create a more sustainable local economy the old-fashioned way by sourcing products as locally as possible, reducing waste, and just doing the right thing.  In addition to food and beer, Allaina loves long walks in the woods, skeeball, spreadsheets and that rewarding feeling when the last piece of the puzzle fits in perfectly.
